The White Rose’s (also known as it forms part of the Tudor Rose) connection with York and Yorkshire has many stories about the origination, however, it is thought that it was first used by the Duke of York in the early 14th Century. Later on it was adopted by the City of York and became key in the famous ‘War of the Roses’ between Yorkshire and Lancashire and is still renowned today.
