Capodimonte Porcelain – Scapinello Fisherman and Stream
This piece of Capodimonte porcelain is fabulous. It depicts a fisherman stood by a stream in incredible detail with the fishing rod made out of a thin piece of wood with the wire attached. There are numerous flowers by the stream and his bag is looped over a tree by a leather handle. The fisherman’s jacket is in fine detail as if blowing in the wind.
Capodimonte is the ultimate collector’s item!
Having originated in 1736 by King Charles III of Naples in the village of Capodimonte, this capodimonte porcelain is of the finest quality known. The capodimonte porcelain figurines are all handmade and are renowned for both the very fine detail and also the richness of the colours used. The ultra fine porcelain mix has always and will always, remain a secret and the world has seen no quality equal to it. Sadly, many of the sculptors have now passed away, therefore the secrets of production have died away with the old masters. Each and every piece is made slightly differently whether this be an inclination of the head, a glance of the eye or a different shade of muffler, hence each piece is truly an original and an individual work of art!
These capo di monte pieces are growing in value over time and are truly collector’s items.
