9ct Yellow Gold 1oz kruggerand coin mount designed in a fancy, circular, leaf pattern and can hold any 32.77mm 1oz South African Krugerrand coin. The krugerrand coin mount can be added onto any chain suitable for the weight of the mount and coin can easily be fitted into the mount.

Krugerrands were introduced in 1967 to give the South African mint a much needed boost – they created something to appeal to collectors and investors and by the 1980’s, Krugerrands were very popular and made up around 90% of the international coin market. They are considered gold bullion and are made up of over one troy ounce of 22 carat Gold.

The purity is 91.67% of 22ct Gold with the rest made from copper (to make the coin harder and more scratch resistant) giving the coin an orange glow.

The name “krugerrand” was introduced as a combination of the surname of Paul Kruger – former President of the South African Republic – an important political and military personality at the time and also the currency of South Africa “The Rand“. Paul Kruger’s face is on one side of the coin, with a springbok on the other,  native to some regions of Africa.

Krugerrands were, and still are, very popular – in fact, THE most popular coin to be sold globally with over 50 million ounces sold. Other nations produced their own krugerrand equivalent having seen the popularity rise – The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin, The Gold Panda of China, The USA Gold Eagles and finally The Britannia Coins of Britain.

Krugerrands were minted therefore they are legal tender however, they don’t have any monetary face value. Being made of 91.67% Gold, they are directly tied to the market value of Gold to the value of 1 oz. The most valueable ones without any mark or blemish which may diminish the value.

Krugerrands are still one of the most collected and traded bullion coins in the world.
