The krugerrand coin mount includes 32 Cubic Zirconia gemstones and can be added onto any chain suitable for the weight of the mount and coin can easily be fitted.
Krugerrands were first minted in 1967 and were introduced to give the South African mint a much needed boost. They were introduced to create something to appeal to collectors and investors and by the 1980’s, Krugerrands were very popular and made up around 90% of the international coin market. They are considered gold bullion and are made up of over one troy ounce of 22 carat Gold.
The purity is 91.67% 22ct Gold and the rest made up of copper (to make the coin harder and more scratch resistant) which gives the coin an orange glow.
The name “krugerrand” was introduced as a combination of the surname of Paul Kruger who was an important political and military personality at the time (former president of the South African Republic) and also the currency of South African “The Rand“. Paul Kruger’s face is on one side of the coin, with a springbok on the other, which is native to some regions of Africa.
