9ct Yellow Gold full Kruggerand coin mount designed in a round, fancy shape with heart pattern detail. This can hold any 32.77mm Full Krugerrand and can be added onto any chain suitable for the weight of the mount and the Krugerrand coin can be easily fitted into the mount.

The Krugerrand was originally introduced in 1967 to give the South African mint a much needed boost – it created something to appeal to collectors and investors and by the 1980’s, the Krugerrand coins were very popular and made up around 90% of the international coin market. Krugerrands are still considered as gold bullion as they are made up of over one troy ounce of 22k Gold.

Composed of 91.67% pure 22ct Gold, the other part of the coin is made from copper (to make the coin harder and more scratch resistant) which gives a Krugerrand an orange glow.

The name “Krugerrand” was a combination of the surname of Paul Kruger – former President of the South African Republic – an important political and military personality at the time and, “The Rand” which is the currency of South Africa. Paul Kruger’s face is on one side of the coin, with a springbok on the other, native to some regions of Africa.

Krugerrands were, and still are, very popular – in fact, THE most popular coin to be sold globally with over 50 million ounces sold.

Other nations produced their own Krugerrand equivalent having seen the popularity rise – The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin, The Gold Panda of China, The USA Gold Eagles and finally The Britannia Coins of Britain.

Krugerrands were minted therefore are legal tender however, they don’t have any monetary face value. Due to their purity, they are directly tied to the market value of Gold to the value of 1 oz. The Krugerrand is still one of the most collected and traded bullion coins in the world.
